Why: Recognizing Outstanding Filipino Americans Who Have Excelled in Their Companies, Careers, or Communities
Seattle, WA – Nominations are now being accepted for Filipino Americans in Washington State who have excelled in their companies, careers, or communities. This is for the second annual Pinoy Reporter Tagumpay Awards. (Tagumpay is a Filipino word that means achievement, victory or success.) This year, the public will help choose who will be the winner in their respective categories.
This year’s categories include:
*Excellence in Sports
*Excellence in Entertainment
*Excellence in Youth Leadership
*Excellence in Engineering
*Excellence in Health Care
*Excellence in Public Service
*Excellence in Community Leadership
*Educator of the Year
*Entrepreneur of the Year
*Lifetime Achievement
Each nominee will be scored by the Pinoy Reporter Tagumpay Awards committee (70% of the total vote) and by the public (30% of the total vote) through online voting between May 1, 2011 and August 1, 2011. Representatives from the Filipino American Association of Certified Public Accountants will tabulate the scores.
One of the keynote speakers this year is Dr. Connie Mariano. She’s the FIRST woman to head the White House Medical Unit.
Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye is the FIRST Filipino American to be the 28th Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court and will also be featured during the celebration.

The Pinoy Reporter Tagumpay Awards is a celebration of Filipino Americans’ achievement, resilience, success and contribution in the Pacific Northwest. The Pinoy Reporter Tagumpay Awards aims to promote excellence, hard work, resilience, higher education, entrepreneurship, public service, positive relationships and community involvement.
